We have been in a perpetual state of preproduction on a little video project for way, way, too long, and are trying to break out of that and move forward, now.
Working on a new show based on "Brave Little Tailor" then i have my first original show planned after that and Siobhan and I are talking about doing an web series at some point, but i don't know when that will happen.
I'm totally intrigued by the whole idea of web series and the future opportunities that might be there (especially if anyone ever hits on a good way for independent producers to make real money with their work).
I've seen a couple of pretty nicely done live-action web shows, but I'm not really up on what is out there puppet-wise. If anyone knows of anything worth watching, please, post it here so others can check it out!
I'm building a new show for our contract with Fairytale Town (a small kids theme park in Sacramento.) I think the cast will be four simple rod puppets (King, Princess, Knight and Wizard) and a moving mouth puppet dragon. I have a vague idea of the plot and I think building the puppets will help solidify things. I'll try to post some in-progress pics.
Last month I finished re-building our "Goldilocks and the Three Sharks" blacklight show. (An audio version of the show can be heard on our Storytime Cd! Plug.) The new set (painted by Kristen Phillips) is over 14' wide and 9' tall. Last year, as a result of gas prices and global warming, I switched from a van to a civic. I've managed to get our regular touring stage, puppets and sound system in to the Civic (thanks to hours and hours of playing Tetris) but the old Goldilocks set barely fit into the van and never had a chance to fit in the new car. Thanks to roll drops and photographer's collapsible tripods the large set now slides into the Civic!

When I went from a van for transport to a Nissan Sentra, it seemed so freeing. Good thing they were all solo shows. I used those photographer's tripods too to hold up the curtain.
Meet The Samsa's, My and SB Parks' show inspired by Kafka's Metamorphosis, goes up March 28th. It runs at the CRT Studio Theater at UConn. It's a multi-media show with video, live video and marionettes. Come one, come all!
better yet, go see "Meet the Samsas'" on Saturday and come see Emperor's New Clothes" too. The CT guild is sponsoring me at the community School for the Arts up by the BIMP Museum. I think it's at 11:00 but I'd have to double check.
I produce a video educational series that teaches history to kids 5-9. Three are done so far, and a fourth should be done this year. I have a bunch of clips at my website www.DaveAndAugie.com as well as a bunch of activities for the kids and teacher's guide for, well, the teachers. I'm also coming up with a one puppeteer show to travel to schools, libraries and such but it's still in the "thinking about" stage. I'm shooting to start production on this show come July.
I'm doing self-promo work and looking for a part-time job, while also trying to find THE design for a TV show's secondary character, so the producer can convince the network to start the project and get people paid.
Ah, the joys (and delays) of TV work...
I am actually working on a production of Caucasion Chalk Circle at WVU, our new costume/makeup/puppetry professor Mary McClung designed it and we are using a bunch of mask characters, hand puppets, moving mouth puppets, rod puppets, and gigantic costume/body puppets. It is going to be awsome, we have a large talented cast and an amazing tech crew.
