Puppet Hub

A global network for professionals, amateurs, and people who just like puppets.

I am new to puppetry and so I'm always buying books to try to self-educate. One discussion on the puppet hub suggested reading a "A Pair of Cockeyed Optimists" about the careers of Bob and Judy Brown, so I ordered it from Amazon. Not only is it a first hand look into the lives of two wonderful puppeteers, but it is written in a way that makes it seem like you are right there, hearing the stories first hand. I was reading it last night, (two rooms away from where my husband was sleeping,) and I laughed so hard that I woke him out of a sound sleep. I am thankful for this forum, where we can network and discover wonderful resources like this book.

Delighted you enjoyed the book. It was really fun to write, however we discovered that we had far more stories than would fit into one book. We're hoping to do more.

Bob suggests that I sign this Mrs. Bob Brown.
P.S. It was such a wonderful rewiew I'd love for you to post it on Amazon, com. Thanks!

Hi Bob and Judy,

I'll post the review to Amazon.com, maybe clean it up a little bit (I'm a former English teacher, so I want to make sure that the review is as well written as I can make it.) I went to Shipshewana, IN puppetry weekend last fall and purchased one of your marionettes, a wonderful Elf Juggler Marionette that can balance a ball on the end of his nose or balance a ball on one toe. I am a beginner and not the best at manipulation, but have recently become involved with the Chicagoland Puppetry Guild, so I'm hoping to get some pointers from of the "strings" members. Thanks again for making me laugh and for creating such wonderful puppets.
