Sometimes I take a full bodied puppet and sit down with it. The puppet is acting sad and hanging his head down. I ask him "What's the matter Jazz?"
He acts as though he doesn't want to tell me....but then I start guessing and I ask the kids if they may know what's wrong and they start guessing....Usually someone asks if somethings wrong with Jazz that may be wrong with them so I talk to them about how sometimes we are all sad about something and how we need to give it over to the Lord and I ask Jazz it he wants to pray about it. Taking the focus and putting it on the puppet sometimes brings out things in the kids that they really want to share but won't on their own. Also you could have a small cd player beside with a song for the puppet to sing with when the prayer is over and ask everyone to sing with the puppet to make him feel better. The more you act like the puppet is real, the more the kids will believe he and his problems are real.... hope this helps......Joyce

I have a question for everyone, As I said I teach 3rd and 4th grade Sunday school. I usally have between 15 and 25 kids in class. If I was to use a puppet to teach lessons what would be the most effective type of puppet. I usually don't have a helper. So I would have to do the puppetry by myself. Some of the kids seem to have a short attension span. I think they are used to televison. I usually have the kids for about 1 and 1/2 hours in the morning while their parents are in church. I usually have them do one craft project and reading the bible story but still have lots of time. Any suggesttions for a format that would keep their attention? What kind of puppet would be most effective.

There seems not to be much discussion lately, I thought I would join your group, to increase your numbers. I am working on my first marionette, so certainly haven't performed. I do teach 3rd and 4th grade Sunday school, and am finding that quite a challenge.

I'm new here to puppet hub but not to puppetry! I have been doing puppets for 20 years now in churches. You can see some of my work at http://www.youtube.com/devilbusters I am working on a kids TV show. I would enjoy hearing what you all think about my videos.

This may sound corny but. I died & had a talk with Jesus & then came back & I always felt that I am suppose to share my story. Sometimes people just say something & I know I am suppose to tell the story. I would like to write a show that explains what I experienced while I was there or not here. It has been awesome.

Godtube is a great place to get a lot of fun ideas! We like Fish sticks check them out! Our youth group had a lot of fun doing the ballet.

Anyone else watch Godtube? I did during lunch everyday until my school blocked the site. Must be too dangerous for public school! Ha! ;-)
