I have had a dream for a long time to have a studio where I could work make costumes and puppets, but also have workshops for children and adults.
I envisioned opening a studio where children and adults could gather to create new things from old things to find new use of the tons of scraps that are leftovers that accumulates when I make costumes.
Learn how to sew, knit, crochet make puppets and just enjoy the creation for what it is with emphases on the process and not necessarily the finished product.
That dream is becoming a reality right here at The Beacon Art Studios.
I’ve spent most of my professional life as a Production Designer for movies and theater and for the last 12 years I have worked designing and making costumes and puppets.
Now I am ready to share some of my knowledge and experience with my community.
At the Beacon Art studios we teach classes that helps people to discover the joy of making something by themselves and at the same time developing classic lifelong skills such as sewing, knitting, crochet and weaving and not to forget puppet making.
One of the goals are to inspire an inventive spirit by demonstrating how useless and unwanted items can be upcycled to create new fun things.
But most of all we just want to have fun together creating and shaping and laughing and being creatively silly.
