Often you can find "outdoor foam" or "weather/waterproof" in fabric and upholstery shops it is rigged and porous

I see they sell reticulated foam on the web site puppet project. And Jim is right their foam is not black. It seems to be mor durable than cushion foam which can shed after a very long time and exposure to the elements.

I wouldn't call it brittle, it is harder and stiffer, I believe it is still spongy, and won't break or anything.

Reticulated is the more brittle stuff? I haven't seen an air conditioner in a while...

I think I read somewhere that reticulated foam is like the black foam used in airconditioning or dehumidifier filters. It is stiffer and more porous. Upholstery foam is softer less porous more comfortable.

Here's the door. I want to give it a skin so I can color it. Has to be a skin that doesn't limit the movement. So I go with tshirt cotton.

The open stage.

I meant my stage to close like a box, but that doesn't give quite enough room. When the flaps open out it seems to be just the right amount.
Below is my stage opened out as mentioned.

This relies on a table surface ofcourse.

Here's the gap that needs filling in. Hard to measure exact… Continue

Hello and thank you for your comments about our T-rex project. The Design for the puppets mostly came from experience. We have built other parade puppets in the past and know some of the problems that can arise from making them.
My husband came up with most of the structural aspects to the puppets but not everything is totally figured out. Everyday we run into something new. We will keep posting out progress as the project continues.
