Relationship to Puppetry
Puppeteer, teacher of puppetry, puppet maker, scenery maker, stage builder, performer and have created many productions. Earned first Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies Degree with a Specialization in Puppetry in the U.S. in 1975. apprenticed with Harry Burnett of Turnabout Theater and Yale Puppeteers.
What First Got Me Interested in Puppetry
Cub Scouting. I could earn a merit badge. I took puppet lessons as a ten year old from Barry Campbell, worked with Margaret Fickling as a teenager then joined the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry and Puppeteers of America in 1958. I toured shows with Harry Burnett, Yale Puppeteer then later my own show and taught puppetry at C.S.U.L.B. and C.S.U.Fullerton.

Mable and Les Beaton, Bil Baird, Harry Burnett, Walton and O'Rourke, Bob Bromley, Tony Urbano, René Zendéjas, Bob Baker, Ralph Chessé, Wayne Barlow and Blanding Sloan and many many more! They are all wonderful in their contributions in such a variety of ways.

Pinocchio, He had a lot to learn but after many trials and foibles became real!
More About Me:
I taught elementary school for forty five years, was a jeweler, interested in mechanical windows which also piqued my interest in moving effigies which led to puppetry during my very early years. I taught puppetry at the university level for ten years. Made an educational film strip in 1979, Miniatures in Theater, which won an award for being the outstanding educational film strip by the Xerox Corporation and the Library of Congress. Married with two grown daughters that perform Punch and Judy. I was an elected Representative for Horace Mann Elementary School with Teachers Association of Long Beach (TALB) and received the Golden Apple Award and the Cliff Kasaba Human Rights Award. I retired in June 2008. Now I am involved and credentialed as a teacher of Longevity Stick, take T'ai Chi Chih classes, computer classes and Pilates. I've never been so busy.
