These miniature marionettes were made in Czechoslovakia.I bought 2 sets now, purchasing my first set from Bulgaria and the second one from a woman living on Cyprus. Here they are housed in a makeshift cardboard theater.
Started studying Puppetry at age of 15,but my interests in puppets goes back to when I was 5.I bought my first puppet at a school craft fair for 25 cents It was my milk money, believe it or not, because i saw it on a table and wanted it,and realized I had money in my pocket,my mother gave me.I was in kingergarden at the time.It was a sock type puppet with two button eyes.I thought it was a ghost puppet and I couldn't figure out what the flap in the back of it's head was.....Until I turned my hand around in the sewn puppet and realized that was a mouth. The whole time I had it wrong,I thought it was just a ghost. So i'll never forget that,it was 1968.At fifteen, and a high school freshman I acted, sang and danced in musicals, but that did not satisfy me.I was also an artist, sculpter, writer, actor, and dancer, singer.
So I went to Anim Art Studio to become the Apprentice puppeteer 1981-1982
Bill Henderson had posted a help wanted ad at the high school, offering a apprentice position......I was flabergasted....
I also worked for the National Marionette Company in Chicago in 1979,repairing puppets and sewing.
And also helped out at the puppet place on Halsted street in Chicago.1980.
What First Got Me Interested in Puppetry
Art,sculpture, history books, drama, comedy, singing ,dancing and acting in the theater and painting all played there parts towards my interests in the art of puppetry.
