"Awesome talent to have - I am new to doing puppets about a year, not as part of a school - just from a local convention that is puppets is one track of the convention. It all looks good except as mentioned above the puppet talking…"
I was on a puppet team at my church in fourth grade. This just fueled the "puppet fever" that I caught. I fell in love with puppetry!
My Puppetry (or Puppet) Hero
Jim Henson is my puppetry hero. He overcame a lot of difficulties and created the massive puppetry empire we know as the Muppets and Sesame Street. I only hope that I can follow in his footsteps.
If I Were a Puppet, I'd Be...
I would be my puppet Addison. She is a husky puppet, but she is a caring, kind puppet that only wants to help others. She never wants to be in anyone's way and she is happiest when she helps other people with whatever they need.
More About Me:
I am 18 and currently going to the University of Connecticut for my BFA in puppetry. I didn't ever think that I could do puppetry as a career until my junior year when I had to start thinking about what college to go to. One of my mom's friends has heard that there was a degree in puppetry and so that peaked my curiosity. It was probably the best decision I had ever made.
Currently I am auditioning for different projects around Connecticut, including some projects that the Master students are working on. I am also working on a project with Judy Buch for inter-city kids in Massachusetts.
My advisor for the puppetry program at UConn is Bart Roccoberton. I also worked at a company called One Way Street for two years as a puppet maker. I also have Tim and Amanda Cowles as mentors along with Judy Buch.
