Sea Beast puppetry is a wonderful new addition to Chicago puppetry . Look for this group to do big things. After all their first production has a whale in it.

awesome puppet! I made a dude like this several years ago, but i couldn't find the right hair for him. What did you use for his hair and how did you get the awesome 'do' to stick? if you don't mind me asking.

Relationship to Puppetry
I am an independent builder and puppeteer as well as one of the founding members of Sea Beast Puppet Company. I also puppeteer one of the characters on the new Eco-friendly puppet DVD for kids "Mr. Furry Fur Fur and His Friendly Earth Friends."
What First Got Me Interested in Puppetry
Sophomore year in college my acting studio requires a 10 min independent and original theater piece. I had one planned but then the other girl involved tore her ACL and was out. A conversation began about children's shows and inspired me to create a television show for children...in hell!
My Puppetry (or Puppet) Hero
Would have to be the stereotypical Jim Henson. You would be crazy not to idolize the man for his inspiration and innovation.
If I Were a Puppet, I'd Be...
Gonzo. He is fearless and ridiculous. He knows what he's doing makes no sense to anyone else, but he does it anyway, and it's always hilarious.
More About Me:
I love to build more than puppeteer at the moment and I am constantly dreaming up new puppet ideas. My favorite thing to do is translate photographs into bizarre puppet adaptations.

Design night

tonight I spent designing a few new puppets. I have quite a few custom pattern puppet designs, but I lack the spine to go out on that tightrope quite yet. I've only worked with pre-made patterns so far (thank god for projectpuppet.com!) The first two puppets I ever made were sans-pattern and came out these giant horrible abominations nature and since then it's been patterns for me. However, I can no longer resist the pull of advanced work and my next few puppets will be a test of my skills (whic… Continue

Thanks so much I appreciate the comment. Did you check out the second one I made. I did a few adjustments on the original pattern and tightened up a few of the details. Including some plastic eyes! I can't wait for this years contest, I missed last year. :(

Thanks again!
