Some one at Pokagon did a similar act. I will try to find out who it was very interesting though. His was with a box type shape and tubes like PVC I'll try to get more info. Thanks for sharing it.

Very nice, I hope to make a group of marionettes similar to the village people some day.

Like your belly dancers, I like the way you made their bodies, it´s quiet easy to make the same kind of puppets in papier máchê.

It was this marionette on display at the St. paul Festival that inspired me to build my own outer space themed show.

Hey Steve,
I was wondering, do you know how long the Lonley Goatherd sequence took to design and build? I understand The Bairds were in Austria about six weeks to film. The reason I ask is several times in the last few years I have gotten calls from people wanting to do something similar. Right now I am negotiating with a video company for a shoot for the Lions Club International Convention. They want six marionettes that are German or European looking to mime to a track from an Elvis Presly song that he sang to some puppets in a film. I think it was GI Blues. At any rate I have gotten several calls over the years wanting puppets "like in the Sound of Music" .Of course everyone wants them next Tuesday and they have no budget. You know the drill. I would just like to be able to say to people with sure knowledge that the sequence took x number of people x months to design and it took x number of people x number of months to build. And if you have any idea of what the budget was that wouldn't hurt either. I was contacted by a sports cable channel last year to do a take off on the number with football players for Inside The NFL which is a national program, that would have required at least a dozen marionettes. It turned out they wanted me to do it for the exposure. I declined. LOL Sometimes I am tempted just to build some German looking puppets just so I can tell these folks taht calll I have them. Watch me do it and then I'll never get another call. My theory is that about the only reference most people have for marionettes is The Sound Of Music so this is what the idea people come up with.

Hi Steve, It's been a long time. Will you be in Atlanta this summer? It looks like it will be a wonderful festival. Hope you are staying warm up there in NY. We had a foot of snow here in Cedar Mountain Sunday and I am stuck on the mountain. We are not really use to this much snow. Susan
