Relationship to Puppetry
Interested in performing puppetry on camera, and incorporating puppetry into other live performances outside of a traditional puppet stage. I am also a new/aspiring puppet builder.
What First Got Me Interested in Puppetry
at a VERY early age, I began animating my stuffed animals. My parents took notice and encouraged the creativity eventually resulting in becoming the youngest member of the Detroit Puppeteers Guild at the time, and many puppet festivals, local to national until I went off to college, focusing on another love, magic.
My Puppetry (or Puppet) Hero
Richard Hunt
If I Were a Puppet, I'd Be...
if I were a Muppet, I'd either be Dr. Bunsen Honeydew or Scooter. I seem to be a healthy dose of either.
More About Me:
videographer, event designer, special effect designer, prop builder, circus performer, puppeteer, graphic designer, independent creative director...
Affiliations/Professional Organizations
Former member of Detroit Puppeteers Guild, Chicagoland Puppeteers Guild and the P of A. We'll see where this year takes me and I may renew.

Giant Butterfly Puppets

Posted on November 5, 2011 at 3:12pm 3 Comments

I am building 4 giant and different butterfly puppets for a friends dance number. It's been a journey to get them to be both large and sturdy as well as simple to operate and with movement that reads as a butterfly (even though it what I've landed on is a reverse flap, which looked better for some reason). They are made from 2 layers of 2mm black Sintra (PVC sheet) computer routed to the butterfly wing shapes with fine fabrics glued and sandwiched in between. They are then hinged with a…

What will you be doing on your travels?

How's your mom doing?

Maybe we'll get to see each other at another time........Tih

Glad I wasn't off with my memory...that happens enough at times.  Glad to read that your Mom is doing so well; I miss seeing her.

So, you and le beau are going traveling, sounds like a fun plan.  Shira and I go on trips during school break.  She's head of Sports Medicine at Andover.  Besides still teaching, I've become known for my photography work (been doing it since '83).  There's one book of my work out now (on Puppets and their People) and another in the works.  I've logged over 20,000 photo's thru the years.  I have to find a way to get all the ones from negatives ( the bulk) onto discs/computer.  I have a few fine ones of the young you as a matter of fact...you were cute...  Life is good.........Tih
