My name is David and I had been a puppeteer since the age of 6. I had been a big fan of Jim Henson, Burr Tillstrom and Bil Baird, three whom I had grew up watching in the 70's.
As a child I was showed how to sew by my grandmother (rest her soul) and she kept encouraged me to keep building and never give up my talent.
As a teen I would perform puppets in church in my group. Now a days I still build them but I have no camera to put them on tape. I have been very busy working at my…

Shadow Circus Creature Theatre, San Francisco's most belligerent puppetry troupe, is presenting their first vaudeville events in the Bay Area in over a year!

Puppetry is a very ancient art form, probably first originating about 30,000 years ago. Puppets have been used since the earliest times to animate and communicate the ideas and needs of human societies. Some historians claim that they pre-date actors in theatre. There is evidence that they were used in Egypt as early as 2000 BC when string-operated figures of wood were manipulated to perform the action of kneading bread. Wire controlled, articulated puppets made of clay…

Hi
I just posted my new 10 min. video clip of my adaptation of "Sir George and the Dragon." I find that getting a video with the right audience (no screaming babies), good lighting, sound, position of the camera taking the video, is a bit tricky. Any tips from puppeteers about how to get a clean accurate video of your puppet work? I tried a pro videographer once - but he knew nothing about puppets and I did not think it worked to my advantage. Thanks in advance for any tips.

I'm longing for building puppets.
I'm in England now and have nothing with me here, everything left in Poland.
I mean --- my furs, Antron, dyes and other stuff. Once I'm at home at the end on May, I'll pack them up and take back to England. Ehh, those luggage restrictions at the airport...

EVER WONDER WHAT ITS LIKE TO AUDITION FOR THE MUPPETS?
NOTE: This is a body of writing that is quite old. Like seven or eight YEARS old. But I’m very proud of it. I think it’s not only funny but well written. That may just be me.
But when you read it, I hope it will give you a little insight as to what the more-than-average person experiences when auditioning for the Muppets.
Read on....
Yessir, it’s been one helluva week. Actually about a week and a…

HA!!! Got you!! Made you look!
Actually, the Jim Henson exhibit currently at the Orlando History Center in Florida is pretty darned cool.
There are several original "vintage" puppets on display as well as some professionally made reconstructions. There's an original Rowlf, and original Kermit, and several truly vintage pieces including Sir Linnit from one of Jim's cooler advertising gigs. There's an Ernie and Bert (possibly reconstructions), Gobo and Cantus from Fraggle…
