A global network for professionals, amateurs, and people who just like puppets.
Hello friends and fans! We wanted to update everyone on our recent activity here at Sea Beast.
Upcoming events:
The Chicago Puppetry Guild Meeting:
When: January 8th
Where: Sea Beast Studio in Glen Ellyn
Whether you're a Chicago Puppeteer who needs to touch base with the rest of us or you're a newcomer looking to meet and greet others in your field over some good food, come on out and stop on by! A potluck lunch will be provided after the meeting, so please bring an entree or side dish to share; we'll do the same! Contact us at seabeastpuppetry@gmail.com for more information.
Gorilla Puppet Project Challenge: Puppets About Town:
When: February 29th
Where: seabeastpuppetry.com
This challenge's theme is "Puppets About Town" and the guideline is simple: put on a puppet show that takes place in a real location, not a stage or fake backdrop, but a found space such as your kitchen, the park or your favorite dive bar.
The project deadline for "Puppets About Town" is set for Feburary 29th. Once submissions are in they will be posted to the Gorilla Puppetry Project website for all the world to see, and we’ll be sending out reminders and updates throughout the process to keep people working and in touch.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept, The Gorilla Puppetry Project is an on-line puppetry challenge sponsored by Sea Beast Puppet Company of Chicago. Our mission is to stimulate and connect the puppetry community in a fun and challenging way. We aim to promote the growth of the puppet artist by presenting small projects with defined themes for each individual to explore and interpret in his or her own way. Then through sharing the work we have all created we can learn from each other and stay connected.
Anyone can participate; all you need is a camera and a computer to videotape and upload your work. For more information on how to get involved, check out Gorilla’s web page at www.seabeastpuppetry.com or E-mail us direct at gorillapuppetry@gmail.com
