Relationship to Puppetry
I perform hand, marionnette, rod, body and rod puppetry. I am in the Detroit Puppeteers Guild and Puppeteers of America.
What First Got Me Interested in Puppetry
While teaching at a preschool, I was introduced to puppets and the rest came naturally.
My Puppetry (or Puppet) Hero
My monkey puppet, Coco. He allows me to play with children while teaching them about their world. He also allows me to be funny in an adult surrounding, as he brings out the kid in all of us.
If I Were a Puppet, I'd Be...
A jester.
More About Me:
I was a former teacher, music, movement, and puppetry and storytelling. I play a variety of instruments and have a teaching certificate from U of M in Ann Arbor. I left teaching to perform. I write shows for the summer library themes and have over 24 as well as holiday themes. I have a CD of 14 songs I wrote which is being played on national kids stations, as well as a DVD of a live performance with 400 people at an outdoor ampitheater. I also love to do magic. I enjoy bringing children up on the stage to perform and my small puppet stage fits on a wheelchair. While at a preschool, a major televison news team was filming my show. I chose 3 totally visually impaired children to do the hand puppet show and 3 totally hearing impaired to play the percussion instruments, following my lead on mandolin. They were perfect performers and amazed all!
My Company/Troupe/Group
It's me & my monkey puppet Coco and many other various puppets.

Mandolin and puppetry, what a great combination! I just bought a mandolin and I've only just managed to tune it.. this could be a very long and winding road!

Love the monkey :)
