What First Got Me Interested in Puppetry
My dad built me a puppet theatre when I was 6 years old and I started doing shows for the kids in the street (charging 2 sweets admission!). In the early eighties I trained as an actor and ran a touring puppet theatre in the UK for a while. In the late eighties I got a "proper job" and worked in theme park materketing, sponsorship and design. I came back to puppetry about a year ago and am doing my best to make a living out of it. We are still on a steep learning curve.....

The day the roof came crashing down

The Puppetechnics Studio officially came into existence on the 1st of October last year, although to be honest I’d been experimenting since May – which makes us one year old this month. I was working in Cornwall at the time, redeveloping a rather tired visitor attraction down there. Spring Bank Holiday was fast approaching and we hadn’t completed one of the exhibitions. So – at very short notice I sat down and built Bob Green, my first puppet for over 20 years, and created a small video studio… Continue

Hey - thanks for sending me a comment - glad you like The Devil's Minstrels. We're having a blast doing it. :-)

For your question no we don't use "full size" guitars for the guys. We use what they call "1/2" size as they are about 32"-33". The bass is a Samick and guitar is a J Reynolds. They actually sound really good for little instruments - we don't use them for our music of course - but if we did they would be usable for sure. "1/2" size instruments seem really popular in the UK.

Hello David,
Yes, it would be good to meet up, but perhaps you could give me a ring one evening, and we'll find out where and when's best. I'm usually in after 8.00 because my wife has two horses which we look after.
It's 01603 482513. Hope that's OK.
Best wishes,
Jan

No problem- I answered your question about dying antron fleece to- I even added the rit dyeing chart. They sell Rit Dye (in Canada) in powder and in liquid form. The liquid is about $7 Canadian and small boxes of dye cost about $3.50 I can dye about 3 yards of Antron easily - it depends on how strong a colour you require I guess. Let me know.
